The 5,000-metre Republic Run, organized by Aksaray University (ASÜ) as part of the celebrations marking the 103rd anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye, was held with the participation of approximately 250 people. The event brought together university staff, students and graduates, as well as students and alumni of the ASÜ Turkish Teaching Application and Research Centre (TÖMER), celebrating Republic Day through the unifying power of sport.
In the Men’s 18–35 Age Category, Oussama Semassel and Madiyar Bagytov, students in TÖMER’s A1-A class, finished 7th and 13th, respectively. Their achievements were a source of pride for the TÖMER community. TÖMER alumni Alikhan Kalel, Muhammad Saleh Said and Tilek Dilmurat also took part in the race and achieved various rankings.
Republic Day celebrations play an important role in strengthening the sense of national unity and solidarity, as well as passing on a shared awareness of history and culture to future generations. The participation of international students from different countries in such meaningful events promotes intercultural interaction and helps them gain a deeper understanding of Turkish culture, social values and the significance of the Republic. Furthermore, these activities support international students’ integration into university and city life while strengthening their cultural and social ties with Türkiye.
At ASÜ TÖMER, we attach great importance to our students’ active participation not only in language learning but also in social, cultural and sporting activities. We continue to support initiatives that enable students from diverse cultural backgrounds to become familiar with our country’s shared values and experience them firsthand.
We proudly celebrate the 103rd anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye, congratulate our students on their achievements in the race, and thank all our students and alumni who took part in this meaningful event.
