ASÜ TÖMER Students Gather at the Traditional Silverberry Picking Festival.
Students from the Aksaray University Turkish Language Teaching Application and Research Center (ASÜ TÖMER) enjoyed a delightful time participating in the university's traditional silverberry picking event.
At the event held on the Aksaray University (ASÜ) campus, international students who had come to Aksaray from all over the world to learn Turkish gathered and chatted with the Rector of Aksaray University, Prof. Dr. Alpay Arıbaş. Afterward, the students had fun participating in activities alongside the ASÜ TÖMER Director, deputy directors, and instructors. By picking fruit from the silverberry trees located on the university campus, the students had the opportunity to both get to know Turkish culture up close and enjoy campus life.
Fostering Both Cultural Adaptation and Social Bonding
Throughout the event, students from diverse regions had the chance to practice the language by conversing with one another and with the teaching staff. This gathering, which has become a tradition, served as a valuable opportunity for international students to adjust to both the university and the city. The event concluded after the gathered silverberries—and halva made from them—were served, followed by the taking of commemorative photos.
